Residence:
At the start of the rental period, you must have been living in the canton of Basel-Stadt for at least two years.
Apartment occupancy:
The apartment may have a maximum of one more room than the number of people living in the household. Half rooms are rounded down (e.g., three people for a 4.5-room apartment).
Income:
The total annual income of all persons registered in the household may not exceed four times the gross annual market rent, including ancillary costs, according to the final tax assessment and before deductions.
Assets:
According to the final tax assessment of the previous year, a asset limit of CHF 30,000 applies to one person, and CHF 50,000 to two or more persons.
