The municipal area is exclusively located on the right side of the Rhone. Lax can be reached from the west via Brig (15 km), in summer from the east via the Grimsel, Furka or Nufenen pass, and in winter from the east with the car transport through the Furka tunnel (15.4 km). The village is also well connected by public transport (Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn).

General information about Lax

The municipality of Lax is the connection between the Aletsch region and the high valley of Goms. With its 320 inhabitants, Lax is a rather quiet place.

Connected to the Aletsch Arena and in the immediate vicinity of the Binntal landscape park, many outdoor activities are possible. The ski destination of the Aletsch Arena can be reached directly by the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn, and the cross-country skiing paradise of Goms is just a 15-minute train ride away.

The train runs at half-hourly intervals towards Goms or towards Brig and Visp. At a comfortable commuting distance of 30 minutes, Lax is located in the Brig-Visp-Naters agglomeration.
